In a festive atmosphere, adorned with balloons, flags and posters, the UEES community together with the TASE Foundation (Transcend with Love, Service and Excellence) and the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, joined together last Sunday (September 18) to carry out the “Let Alzheimer's not stop us” Walk (1K), as a show of support for people suffering from this disease.
“I walk for my grandmother,” was one of the messages that could be read on the T-shirts of the attendees who chanted loudly the slogan of the walk.
“This event is a way to tell those with Alzheimer's not to hold back, that the disease may be serious, but it shouldn't stop them from leading happy, independent lives.”,
commented Alejandra Bastidas, a student of the UEES School of Medicine.
The walk started at Plaza Navona and ended at the UEES Sports Complex, where the Dean of the School of Medicine, José Pedro Barberán, and Daniela Serrano, representative of the TASE Foundation, spoke about disease prevention.
“This is a small token of our support for those with Alzheimer's disease. Let them know they are not alone.”,
were Barberán's words.
