The Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) inaugurated the remodeling of floors 1 and 2 of building E, belonging to the Faculty of Health Sciences “Dr. Enrique Ortega Moreira”, incorporating modern classrooms, offices and laboratories for the training of the country's future doctors. The new facilities seek to strengthen practical and academic learning in an environment equipped with technology in accordance with the current challenges of health education.
During the opening ceremony, Dean Juan Carlos Zevallos highlighted the value of these works as a legacy for the university community and for the country. One of the most significant spaces is the new Museum of Ophthalmology, that pays tribute to the Dr. Enrique Ortega Moreira, recognized for his profound vocation of service. Ortega dedicated a large part of his life to providing free care to the visually impaired, incorporating high quality equipment and leaving an example of generosity that transcends generations, including the donation of his corneas for transplants to people with limited resources.
The student voice was also present at the ceremony. Juliana Obando, student of the faculty, Today we are not only inaugurating a building, we are opening a new stage in medical training, where technology, ethics and human vocation come together to train those who will have lives in their hands,“ he said, underlining the human and professional commitment that this new space represents for UEES.
