The forum “Education, state policy: experiences, difficulties, innovation and solutions”, organized by Diario EL UNIVERSO, was held at Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES). The main objective of this event was to discuss how to improve the quality of higher education in Ecuador.

The panel was attended by prominent personalities, including Ivonne Núñez, Minister of Labor; Ana Changuín, former Secretary of Higher Education; Tomislav Topic, General Manager of Telconet; and Isidro Fierro, Rector of UEES.

The day began with introductory talks by Alegría Crespo, Minister of Education; María Brown, Executive Director of Fundación Crisfe and former Minister of Education; and Gabriel Rovayo, representative of Telconet. Each of them provided valuable perspectives on the current situation and challenges of the Ecuadorian education system.

Isidro Fierro spoke on the topic «How to complement Ecuador's academic offerings abroad (double degrees) and opportunities in other countries». Fierro stressed the importance of intercultural competencies, stating: “Having intercultural competencies means knowing how to negotiate, knowing how to live in a culture that is different from one's own, knowing how to behave in a globalized and more connected world.

The forum was a space for reflection and proposals, where innovative strategies and practical solutions were discussed to face the difficulties of the educational system and improve its quality, in order to prepare Ecuadorian students for an increasingly competitive world.
