Flowers, candles, dancing and music filled with color and joy the inauguration of the Indian Film Fest 2024, an event organized by the School of International Studies of the Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES), in collaboration with the Embassy of India and the India Ecuador Chamber of Commerce. The objective of this festival was to bring the cultural richness of India closer to the Ecuadorian public.
The official kick-off of the event was attended by Vineet Kumar, first Secretary for Culture at the Embassy of India in Bogota; Paulina Durango, president of the India Ecuador Chamber of Commerce; The event was attended by citizens of the Indian community, UEES authorities and university students, who enjoyed a day that highlighted the best of Indian culture.
During the opening ceremony, the profound significance of the lighting of the lamp was explained, accompanied by prayers and traditional dances that marked the beginning of the festival. As part of the event, the Embassy of India made a generous donation of books to the university, and the university was able to offer its support to the students.awarded 10 full scholarships for UEES students and teachers.
“Sharing good news enlightens the spirit and motivates the entire community. In this way, we fulfill our mission to bring knowledge across borders. This festival is a message of hope by strengthening the ties between India and Ecuador,” said Angelike Paez, dean of the Faculty of International Studies at UEES.
The Indian Film Fest is the first Indian film festival held in Samborondón, and it took place from September 27-29 at the UEES Honoris Causa Hall. Attendees were able to enjoy a selection of the most representative productions of Bollywood, the largest film industry in the world, which not only brought entertainment, but also an enriching cultural exchange.
