The School of Environmental Sciences drove the day's work “Environmental Liabilities and Comprehensive Waste Remediation”.”, The event was a professional update event aimed at alumni; which was governed by the highest authority in the country “Ministry of the Environment”. The event was held last Friday, October 12, 2018 in the Auditorium (Building E).
The day lasted from 08h30 to 17h30, with the participation of speakers from the Ministry of Environment: José Luis Díaz, Andrea Fernanda Meza and Christian Paúl Burbano. All of them specialists of the “Environmental and Social Reparation Program (PRAS)”, which allows that there are no more cases of socio-environmental damages without attention or with incomplete attention.
The most relevant topics analyzed during the conference were: Update on Integral Damage Reparation according to the Organic Environmental Code, documentation of cases and management experiences, methodological guide for Environmental Assessment, and a sample of the Environmental and Social Remediation Program (PRAS).
The conclusions evidenced were: The lack of immediate action programs to address environmental accident problems that lead to liabilities, mapping of the national sites with the highest incidence of environmental problems according to the different types of activity (oil extraction, mining, agriculture, aquaculture). And finally, exemplification of the methodology for the treatment and quantification of environmental problems that require integral remediation (environmental and social).
The Director of the School of Environmental Sciences, René Rodríguez, The School of Environmental Sciences has among its objectives the implementation of projects related to “Risk control and management measures” according to the different industrial activities.
