The Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) attended the event at the global epicenter of entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem in Seville, Spain.
With close to a thousand participants from more than 46 countries and 100 investment firms, the Spanish city held the International Startup Congress promoted by the International Startup Association and the Business Market Network. The meeting, which lasted from December 13 to 15, was attended by investors, accelerators, universities, innovation centers and technology parks from the USA, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Universidad Espíritu Santo had an outstanding participation representing Ecuador in two central panels during the event. In the first, «Promoting Open Innovation from Universities and Business Schools», professor Monserratt Bustamante provided valuable perspectives. In the second, «Boosting the Startup Ecosystem and Entrepreneurship from Universities and Business Schools», with the contribution of the director of the Eureka Entrepreneurship Center, César Vélez.
“Participating and exchanging ideas with colleagues from different institutions was really enriching. The learning has been gigantic, the networking powerful and the experience wonderful,” said Velez.
The congress sought to boost and connect the international startup ecosystem, fostering regional alliances in investment, knowledge and research. It also aimed to make successful processes and keys to scalability visible, establish a global network of ambassadors to facilitate the expansion of startups, and promote strategic cooperation to identify entrepreneurial talent and boost investment in the startup ecosystem.
