With the participation of 38 teams of undergraduate students, graduate students and teachers, UEES inaugurated the IX Sports Games. The teams that will compete for three months in the disciplines of soccer, basketball, volleyball and field tennis, met last Friday at the UEES Sports Complex to formally start the championship.
In a framework of healthy competition and joy, the program began with the Cheerleaders from the Liceo Panamericano school, who showed dexterity and precision in their steps. The event continued with the UEES Dance Therapy group.
Brenda Mieles and Valerie Villalba, students of the School of Communication, were in charge of conducting the event, managing to keep the teams and guests animated and expectant of the program.
The Olympic Tea was carried by canoeing champion and UEES student Mia Friend Chung, escorted by Carlos Coello, Paulette Arteaga, Carlos Cruz and Stefano Tumbaco, outstanding athletes of the university.
The sports oath was taken by the student Roberto Gavilanes, captain of the Abraldes team, 2014 soccer champion.
The jury, which had the difficult task of choosing Miss Sports, Congeniality and Confraternity, as well as the best uniformed teams, was formed by Master Marlena Leon, Academic Vice Rector of UEES; Prf. Keber Fajardo, former soccer player of the Ecuadorian national team and Club Sport Emelec, current Technical Director and sports commentator; our UEES alumni Eng. Giuliana Villavicencio, Miss Supranational Ecuador 2013 and former president of the UEES Student Fraternity; and Gisella Buendía, Sports Journalist of Cable Deportes.
Finally, María Pesantes was named Miss Sports; Lavinia Valbonesi, Miss Confraternity; and Clara Vera, Miss Congeniality; Fortia was chosen as the best uniformed male team; and Lexus as the best uniformed female team.
