On Wednesday, October 23rd at 15:00, UEES inaugurated the «Lactation Room» on the Upper Floor of Building I.
The Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Health issued the Instructions for the adequacy and use of breastfeeding support rooms in private sector companies. According to the Interministerial Agreement No. 003 and numeral 2 of article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, states: «Motherhood and childhood have rights to special care and assistance.».
The mother within her 6-hour workday shall be entitled to receive a leave of 20 minutes for every 2 hours for the expression of breast milk. This period may not be accumulated or exchanged for early departures; once the breastfeeding period is over, the employer may grant for 12 months an additional 20 minutes every three 3 hours for the expression of breast milk.
In order to ensure compliance with the legal standard, employers must keep a record of the time granted to each breastfeeding mother.
