According to the Interministerial Agreement No. 003 and numeral 2 of article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, states: «Motherhood and childhood have rights to special care and assistance.».

The mother within her 6-hour workday shall be entitled to receive a leave of 20 minutes for every 2 hours for the expression of breast milk. This period may not be accumulated or exchanged for early departures; once the breastfeeding period is over, the employer may grant for 12 months an additional 20 minutes every three 3 hours for the expression of breast milk.

In order to ensure compliance with the legal standard, employers must keep a record of the time granted to each breastfeeding mother.
