Wine, chocolate, coffee and other gourmet products have stories to tell, and the Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) together with the Cofradía del Vino are preparing the storytellers. In an exclusive event, the two institutions presented their new Professional Sommelier Certification Program, This course is designed for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and skills in the world of sommelier.

This informative Wine Tasting event, held recently, was the perfect platform to announce this initiative. Leticia Pino, director of the UEES Continuing Education Unit, and Pablo Conselmo, director of the Cofradía del Vino, shared the details of this program that not only focuses on wine, but also on other gourmet products such as chocolate, coffee, beers, cheeses and distillates.

During the tasting, attendees were able to taste a special selection of wines, while receiving information about the certification program. “This event not only provided a preview of the quality and depth of the training we offer, but also served as a valuable space for interaction and strengthening of relationships between the participating institutions,” Pino detailed.

“The role of a sommelier is crucial, acting as the essential link between the production and consumption of these products, and elevating the gastronomic experience in any context. Recognizing the importance of this profession, our program offers comprehensive and specialized training,” said Conselmo.

The Professional Sommelier Certification Program will begin on June 4, 2024, The program lasts 2 years and will be offered in blended learning mode, with classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, plus one Friday per month from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

UEES and the Cofradía del Vino strongly believe that participation in this formative tasting is a significant step in promoting the development of highly trained professionals in the sommelier field. They are excited about the positive impact that the Professional Sommelier Certification Program will have on the food industry and the consumer experience.
