Sports Center and UEES Mental Health Center are the new facilities to create a healthier campus community.

Promoting integral wellness in student life is the premise of Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES), which this year, in celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, inaugurated several spaces designed so that its students can exercise and take care of their mental health. Sports Center and UEES Mental Health Center seek to provide young people with a balanced and happy university experience.

Sports Center, is the university's sports complex. In its first phase, the gymnasium has been expanded, and in the coming months, the swimming pool and sports courts, including a paddle tennis court, will be inaugurated.

“This is the dynamic of this university: we are constantly improving, expanding and offering new services,” said Juan Pablo Ortega, vice chancellor of UEES.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, in the last four years there has been a 58% increase in the number of patients with mental health problems. In response to this growing need, a new facility, the UEES Mental Health Center, a center dedicated to those seeking to take care of their mental well-being. This center has professionals in psychology and maintains a partnership with the Institute of Neurosciences, ensuring comprehensive and high quality care.

“We generally measure success in college by what we have learned - be it a thesis or a project or an equation - and by what we achieve, such as good grades or participation in challenges. But success should be measured in a more intangible way as well: how well we accept ourselves, how we handle our emotions and how we approach our relationships,” said Francisco Alemán, dean of Student Welfare.

In addition, during the inauguration of the new rector, Isidro Fierro, it was mentioned that his administration will be oriented towards the promotion of joy, empathy and emotional intelligence in all aspects of university life.

With these initiatives, Espiritu Santo University reinforces its commitment to offer an environment where student wellbeing is a priority, as the institution is not only dedicated to training competent professionals, but also to cultivating integral and emotionally healthy human beings.
