UEES - Espiritu Santo University > CAMUEES > UEES wins First Place in the National Arbitration Contest

The Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES) is proud to announce that it has won first place in the National Arbitration Competition, organized by the Ecuadorian-American Chamber of Commerce of Quito, consolidating its position as a leader in the legal field in the country.

The UEES team demonstrated exceptional performance during the competition held on May 30 and 31, 2024, obtaining the following recognitions: First Place in the Final Hearing crowning as Champion of the Competition, First Best Lawsuit Brief and Second Mention Best Speaker.

The dean of the law school, Santiago Velázquez Velázquez, highlights the importance of this triumph, pointing out that “this achievement shows that our law students have managed to combine the skills and abilities they acquire during their years of study, not only in arbitration but also in substantive subjects, as well as an exceptional command of public speaking, legal argumentation, legal logic, among other competencies”.

“This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of students and faculty coaches, who are fully committed to academic excellence and professional rigor. CAM UEES thanks and congratulates all team members for their outstanding contribution and commitment,” said María José Blum Moarry, director of CAM UEES and co-coach of the team.

The winning team of this thirteenth edition was formed by: Carlos Correa García, Karla Condo Jaya, Paula Conforme Chávez, Efrén Baquerizo Bautista, Juan Pablo Wong Vera.

“I want to thank for having had the opportunity to participate as a speaker in the XIII Edition of the National Refereeing Competition, where UEES was the winner. This achievement was the product of a joint effort--both by students and coaches--that involved a lot of preparation and continuous study. In the end, the effort bore the expected fruit: for the first time, UEES was crowned national refereeing champion,” says Carlos Correa García.

Among the participating institutions were: Universidad San Francisco de Quito (last year's winners), UDLA, Universidad Católica de Guayaquil, PUCE, Universidad Central de Quito, Universidad del Azuay, Universidad Católica de Cuenca and Universidad de los Hemisferios.

This success reflects UEES' commitment to academic excellence and the comprehensive training of its students in the field of law. We congratulate the entire team for this extraordinary achievement and look forward to continued success together in the future.
