UEES, committed to the national intersectoral family planning strategy of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador through the Public Health and Safety Unit, held the event ‘Family Planning and Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases’ on December 11 at the ‘Galo Garcia’ Auditorium.

Dr. Leticia Parpacén, professor of the Faculty of Health Sciences in the area of gynecology and obstetrics, shared with the university community the importance of family planning to guarantee permanent and effective access to information, education, counseling, inclusion, protection and health services for making free and responsible decisions on sexuality and reproduction, and the full exercise of sexual and reproductive rights, through sectoral synergies.

Referring to the commitment of higher education institutions in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, Dr. Parpacén presented statistics on STDs in Ecuador and their impact on public health in the country.
