A group of researchers linked to Espiritu Santo University received an important international recognition during the 18th Congress of the Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT), when they were awarded the prize for the best researcher in the field of thoracic thoracic surgery. best paper in Respiratory Physiology. The team consisted of Dr. Juan Calderón, Dr. Jorge Salgado, Dr. Gabriela Rodas, Dr. Ronald Dandurand, Dr. Iván Cherrez, as well as Sebastian Pacheco, UEES student, y Karla Robles, graduate of the institution, This highlights the leading role of the university community in high-level scientific spaces.  

The ALAT Congress is the most important meeting of respiratory medicine in Latin America, where specialists, researchers and leaders in respiratory health of the continent meet to share scientific advances, clinical experiences and strengthen collaborative networks. In this space, UEES research was recognized for its significant contribution to the understanding of respiratory physiology and its potential application in the approach to lung diseases.

This achievement reaffirms the commitment of UEES to the generation of scientific knowledge of impact, aligned with international quality standards. Through research, teaching and innovation, the university continues to contribute to the strengthening of public health in the region, especially in the field of respiratory diseases, which remain a priority challenge in Latin America.
