After more than 25 years dedicated to understanding and improving the health of Ecuadorian women, Peter Chedraui, a senior research professor at the Espiritu Santo University Research Center, received the title of "Professor of Health at the University of Espiritu Santo". «Master of Ecuadorian Gynecology and Obstetrics».» during the XXV Ecuadorian Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This recognition, the highest that a specialist can receive in the country, celebrates a physician who has dedicated his career to researching physiological and pathophysiological processes of the various stages of women's lives. In particular, many women are sometimes silenced or misunderstood during menopause and the climacteric. These years, when women face profound physical and emotional changes, are where Dr. Chedraui has focused his work so that they receive appropriate treatment and pertinent information. His research has not only changed lives in Ecuador, it is also recognized internationally by scientific societies in Europe and the world.
What makes this achievement special is that behind every scientific article, every study and every lecture by Dr. Chedraui, there are real women: mothers who finally find answers to their symptoms, daughters who learn how to better accompany their mothers at this stage, doctors who are trained to offer more humane and effective care. Every study she conducts, every scientific article she publishes, translates into better diagnoses, more effective treatments and doctors better prepared to care for their patients. For the UEES community and Ecuador, having researchers of this caliber means that quality science is being done here in our country, addressing health problems that directly affect our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters. This type of recognition reminds us that scientific excellence and community service go hand in hand, and that institutions like UEES are committed to training professionals who not only practice medicine, but transform it through research and education.
