UEES and SUCCEXION promoted a panel that highlighted the contribution of women's leadership in the decision-making bodies.
Quito, August 19, 2025. The Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES), through its Graduate School and ESAI Business School, together with SUCCEXION, held with great success the business breakfast “More Effective Women on Boards of Directors”. The meeting brought together 90 women entrepreneurs, CEOs, board members and leaders from different sectors of the capital.
Globally, women hold just 23.3 % of board seats and 8.4 % of chairmanships. In the United States the figure is 30 %, while in Latin America it is around 14.5 %, with Ecuador still lacking consolidated public data.
César Espinoza, representing the Graduate School of UEES, ESAI Business School and SUCCEXION, highlighted the institutional commitment to leadership training and recalled important initiatives, such as the creation of the Observatory for the Promotion of the Violet Economy (OPEV) and the enactment of the Violet Law.
The breakfast included a panel of three prominent personalities who shared their perspectives and experiences:
- Verónica Sevilla, President of the Board of Directors of Empresa Operadora del Metro de Quito and consultant in strategic development and communication.
- Pierángela Sierra, founder and CEO of Tipti, first Ecuadorian in the Forbes 50 Over 50 global ranking and a regional benchmark in technological innovation and sustainability.
- Roberto Salas, co-founder and President of SUCCEXION, expert in corporate governance and public-private partnerships.
The panel was moderated by Ana Changuín, Director of the UEES Representative Office in Quito, who guided the interventions and raised the main axes of discussion around the professional profile of women managers, the development of soft skills and the construction of sustainable leadership trajectories.
During the dialogue, topics such as the differential value of women on boards, the development of key skills for board effectiveness, and policies and practices that strengthen leadership were addressed.
The event concluded with questions from the audience in which the panelists shared their golden rules and recommendations for effective leadership and building trust at the board level.
