Approximately 1000 teachers and researchers participated in the meeting organized by UEES and CREAR to discuss the present and future of teaching.
Experts in artificial intelligence, metaverse and augmented reality took part in the Congress “The new educational excellence”. The event, organized by Espiritu Santo University and CREAR Educational Unit, aimed to present the latest trends in online education and how it is transforming the way of teaching and learning.
Speakers such as Sergio Corneros and Cyntia Banegas from the organization Unidos por la Educación; Antonio Canchola and Jan Rehak from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and Carmen Álvarez from the University of Cantabria shared their experiences and discussed the topic with approximately 1,000 teachers from different countries who were part of the audience in person and online.
Sergio Carneros, representative of Unidos por la Educación, pointed out that among the benefits of artificial intelligence are: saving time and efficiency, performing less repetitive work and the need to be more critical.
Faced with the belief that students will learn less or that there will be professions that will disappear, the educator stressed that these are fears that must be countered with research, preparation and educational innovation. “These types of congresses are important because they bring us closer and unite us, we must not lag behind because then we cannot prepare the students of the future,” he pointed out.
For her part, Lisbeth Pérez, dean of the Faculty of Humanities of UEES, said “this event is to report all the advances that are being made at the level of artificial intelligence to help teachers perform better and make better use of resources and tools in the training process”.
Similarly, Erika Laínez, director of the CREAR Educational Unit, added “with the new methodologies, we no longer use memorization but experimentation and research to help internalize the concepts with the support and guidance of the teacher”.
In this way, Espiritu Santo University and CREAR Educational Unit will continue to work together to promote educational excellence and be at the forefront of new trends in education.
