María Paula Sánchez, a graduate of the Dentistry career at UEES, will be one of the participants in the prestigious Hatton Awards 2025, which will be held during the 103rd General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) in Barcelona, from June 25 to 28, 2025. This international event, of great relevance in the dental field, will bring together leading researchers and academics from around the world, and will offer Sanchez the opportunity to represent Ecuador and UEES in one of the main global platforms for dental research.
Sanchez will present his research entitled «Perception of Dental Students After Training in the Use of Intraoral Scanners», a study that highlights the importance of including the use of intraoral scanners in the dental academic curriculum. This work shows how training in digital technologies improves the accuracy and efficiency of clinical procedures, strengthening the competencies of future professionals. The research is part of a broader project called «Integration of 3D technology in dentistry», led by Pablo Benítez, professor and researcher at UEES.
«One technology that is transforming modern clinical practice is the intraoral scanner. It not only improves accuracy in dental procedures, but also reduces errors and optimizes time, overcoming the limitations of conventional dental impressions.»
The Hatton Awards are a prestigious recognition granted by the IADR, aimed at rewarding young researchers who show promising scientific potential. This award highlights the quality and impact of dental research, promoting innovation and advancement in dental science. María Paula Sánchez received this important award after winning the IADR Ecuador Sectional Awards, where she was recognized in the category of original research for her valuable contribution in terms of scientific quality and innovation.
Sanchez's work underscores the revolution that intraoral scanning has brought to modern clinical practice. This achievement not only highlights the talent and commitment of UEES to dental research, but also strengthens its international visibility, consolidating the university as a leader in higher education and science globally.

Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES), began its academic activities in 1994 as a private, self-financed, non-profit institution. Its spirit of commitment and constant innovation are present in the quality of the service it offers to its community.
