The Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES) through the Graduate School of Law was honored to present the book «Labor Disability: A Question of Human Dignity and Equality», written by Katherine Muñoz, a prominent lawyer, judge of the National Court of Justice and professor at UEES.
Recognized for her commitment to labor justice and social inclusion, Muñoz addresses discrimination in the workplace and the need for reasonable accommodation by employers. She also emphasizes that work must be adapted to people with disabilities to ensure their development and full participation in society.
During the presentation, Pablo Alarcón, director of the Graduate School of Law, said: “To promote and present legal texts in our university and in this school in particular is a real honor and privilege. I also want to emphasize that this text is very important for the discussion because it is not just another text of those merely descriptive memoirs, but it is a text that has been concerned with problems that can be seen in Ecuadorian society on a daily basis and to which the law has to respond”.
The author, Katherine Muñoz, also highlighted the relevance of her work, stating: “This book addresses the importance that people with disabilities must have in order to be included in the work environment, emphasizing that this integration is a matter of human dignity and equality.
The presentation of the book marks a milestone in the discussion on labor inclusion in Ecuador, highlighting the importance of adapting the work environment to ensure equality and dignity for all workers, especially those with disabilities.
