Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) organized a working session with Dr. Gabriel Galarza, President of the Council for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CEAACES).

During the meeting, representatives of 18 self-financed universities in Ecuador discussed issues related to the university accreditation system and its future regulations.

In the framework of this event, CEAACES Technician, Ángel Naranjo, presented the new model for the Improvement of the External Institutional Evaluation of Universities and Polytechnic Schools, which includes fundamental aspects such as: quality standards, processes, regulations and criteria for accreditation and classification, which will be implemented soon.

This working session was part of a series of workshops held with Rectors and representatives of Higher Education Institutions (HEI), organized so that their proposals, observations and comments could be systematized by CEAACES.

Within the new reforms to the Evaluation and Accreditation model, the IEAs will be classified into 3 models: accredited for 6 years, to those institutions that exceed 70% in the evaluation and do not have any deficiencies; accredited for 3 years, to those institutions that have obtained at least 45% in the evaluation for accreditation purposes; and licensed, to those IES that meet the minimum operating conditions established by the CES in coordination with the CEAACES, and have not yet achieved accreditation.
