The “Enrique Ortega Moreira” School of Medical Sciences, with the aim of raising awareness and prevention in society, organized the “Stand up to Tuberculosis” campaign.

This campaign by UEES students and teachers began today with a day of activities on March 24, World Tuberculosis Day.

As part of the program, experts gave lectures on resistance, coinfections and molecular diagnostics, aimed at medical students, invited physicians and the general public.

This was followed by a round table of experts who discussed positions, cases and preventions of this contagious bacterial infection that mainly involves the lungs.

Some of the experts who participated in this event are:

Dr. Fabian Padrón, UEES researcher; Dr. Mauro García, Tuberculosis Program of the Ministry; Dr. Cajias, UEES Epidemiologist; Dr. Carlos Fayad, UEES Professor and Head of the Epidemiology Department of the Municipality of Guayaquil; Dr. Washington Alemán, Infectious Diseases and UEES Professor.

As part of this campaign, medical students disseminated information about this disease on campus and in strategic locations along the Via Samborondón.
