On November 12, 2024, the Espiritu Santo University (UEES) hosted a unique event that brought together thinkers, entrepreneurs and leaders from diverse areas to share their most innovative and transformative ideas in the framework of the TEDxUEES. This event, which followed the internationally recognized format of TED, became a platform to address issues of social, scientific, cultural and technological impact, with the aim of inspiring the university community and the general public.
Under the slogan «PROGREDI«TEDxUEES offered a day of short but insightful talks focused on generating positive change in society. Attendees were able to enjoy presentations covering a wide range of topics, from technological innovation to sustainability, mental health, art and education, offering new perspectives and tools to address contemporary challenges.
Among the most outstanding speakers at this year's edition were figures such as Isidro Fierro, Rector of UEES, Galia Garcia, Alumni of the university, and María Gracia Jaramillo, Law and Political Science students, among others. Each one shared their experiences and knowledge on such diverse topics under the axes of rebirth, entrepreneurship, living and sharing. The talks were carefully selected to reflect the diversity of interests and challenges facing society today, offering valuable insights on how to move towards a brighter future.
Although TEDxUEES is a local event, the organizers, a technical team from the same university, managed to transmit the global essence of TED by designing an event that was on a par with large international conferences. The talks were broadcasted in two spaces: a main hall where the audience interacted directly with the speakers, and a room called Live Room, which offered a live broadcast of the event, allowing people outside the campus to be part of the experience.
To hold TEDxUEES, the university had to obtain an international license, which involved a process of learning from previous events worldwide. “We had to go to a previous event, learn from other events at the international level. What we brought is what is done worldwide. We are representing what we are: a top 1 university,” explained Alexandra Portalanza, General Manager of the Online Division and responsible for the TEDxUEES license.
The event ended with a standing ovation from the attendees, who were enthusiastic about the ideas presented and motivated to put them into action. TEDxUEES was not only a day of learning, but also a reminder that all ideas count and that, through collaboration and knowledge sharing, it is possible to build a better future.
With this successful edition of TEDxUEES, In this way, Universidad Espiritu Santo reaffirms its commitment to innovation and educational leadership, being a benchmark in the dissemination of ideas that seek to generate a positive impact on society.
