The “Family Business Studies and Development Unit” of Espiritu Santo University, received from Argentina, the “ILAEF 2018 Award”, by the Latin American Institute of Family Business (ILAEF), today Monday, November 19, 2018 at the UEES Patronage Hall.
The recognition is awarded for his excellent contribution in the research study of family businesses called: “Radiography of the Ecuadorian Family Business”; which aims to provide exclusive information on the number of family businesses in Ecuador and the real weight they have within our economy. Likewise, the research was conducted through two important representatives of UEES, Dr. Marcelo Andrade Cordero (Director of Studies and Development of Family Businesses), and Dr. Marcelo Andrade Cordero (Director of Studies and Development of Family Businesses), and Dr. Marcelo Andrade Cordero (Director of Studies and Development of Family Businesses). Dr. Fernando Espinoza (Director of the Research Center). In addition, the study had the support and partnership of the Instituto de la Empresa Familiar de España IEF, the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros, and Banco del Pacífico.
The award ceremony was attended by the Dr. Marlena León (Vice Rector of UEES); Dr. Marcelo Andrade (Director of the Unit of Studies and Development of Family Businesses of UEES), Dr. Mark Hollihan (Manager of Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility of Banco del Pacífico); Phd. Alexandra Portalanza and Dr. Cesar Espinoza (Instituto Latinoamericano de la Empresa Familiar ILEAF); representatives of the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros: Mr. Álvaro Acosta (Intendente Nacional de Planificación, Tecnología y Desarrollo) and the National Director of Research and Studies, Mr. Segundo Camino.
The Unit of Studies and Development of Family Businesses UEES, arose from the need to observe that most Ecuadorian companies were family businesses and were abandoned, because they did not have the necessary preparation and required special treatment to contribute to their development. Today, this unit is projected into the future, as a unit that will continue to strengthen and train the family businessman through research and updates of accurate research work, resolving conflicts between family business owners, managers and administrators.
