To train experts with a high academic content of knowledge in the study of the updated conditions of Orthodontics, being highly committed professionals with a high degree of knowledge about patient care and their welfare, in turn encourage scientific research which promotes the ability to resolve and make immediate decisions to problems encountered during practice using ethical and socially responsible standards.

Aimed at

Professionals with a third level degree in the area of dentistry, granted by a National or foreign University, recognized in the list of Senescyt.

Student profile upon graduation

  • Demonstrate skills, abilities, knowledge, knowledge, attitudes and aptitudes in the area of Orthodontics to establish a treatment plan based on updated scientific evidence for each patient.
  • Coordinate and direct multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment, based on adequate communication with other specialists in complementary surgical and non-surgical procedures.
  • Perform complex orthodontic treatments using a variety of mechanics.
  • Participate in management processes in the dental areas and services of the specialty, promoting the generation of knowledge and health technologies.
  • To orient their professional practice towards health promotion and preventive care within the framework of dialogue of knowledge, interculturality, the gender approach and respect for the rights of the Good Life.

Title to be awarded

Once the academic, assistance and administrative requirements have been approved, the degree work has been defended and the student has participated in high impact articles or research projects, the title of Specialist in Orthodontics will be awarded.

The teachers of this program are professionals with fourth level degrees, extensive knowledge and experience in the area to be taught.

Study Modality

The postgraduate program is a face-to-face and full-time program. The duration of the Specialization in Orthodontics program is 5 academic periods (2 and a half years).

Requirements

Requirements to participate in the contest

All documents must be notarized copies.

Documents supporting the suitability of the applicants

  • Present the citizenship card for national applicants; and, for foreign applicants, the identity card or passport.
  • Be a professional in the specific field of knowledge of dentistry with a national or foreign third level degree registered in the National System of Higher Education Information of Ecuador (SNIESE).
  • Have your professional title registered with the Health Authority and ACESS Certification.
  • Have passed the CACES professional qualification exam.
  • Level of proficiency in a language other than the mother tongue as established in the Internal Regulations of the Graduate School.
  • To be the winner of the merit and competitive examination (considering the presentation of all the documents stipulated in the Technical Standard in force at the time of the call for competition).
  • Final grade certificate

Documents for merit qualification (30 points)

  • Certificates of dental training courses endorsed by an institution of higher education.
  • Publications and/or letters of acceptance for publication in indexed journals or books; as main author or co-author.
  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in the area of health registered with Senescyt.
  • Specialization in the health area registered in the Senescyt.
  • Master's degree in the area of health registered with Senescyt.
  • Teaching assistantships, practical or theoretical tutorships in higher education institutions, duly certified by the competent authority, obtained through merit and competitive examinations.
  • Awards for academic merit and/or research, granted by an institution of higher education or one of the country's academic teaching units.
  • Completed full or half academic scholarships awarded by domestic or foreign institutions of higher education or other entity.
  • Participation in research projects duly endorsed by an institution of higher education, a research institution.
  • Certificates of lecturer or speaker at endorsed academic meetings.

On the competitive examinations (70 points)

The opposition test will be conducted through the BlackBoard platform, according to the established schedule, it will have two components.

Admission requirements

  • Winner of a merit-based competitive examination.
  • Fill out the admission forms of the Program and submit the documents required by the University and UAD.
  • Interview with the program director or coordinator.
  • Take the psychological tests
  • Cancel the registration fee and the first term before the beginning of the program.
