Humanistic and integrative approach

The Doctorate in Education will mark a milestone in the changes required for the structuring of the new educational standards. The program contains a doctoral academic training of high quality standard in its preparation, to address in this way, the economic, political and social challenges of the new models of the prevailing society. The graduate of the doctoral program will be an essential part to achieve the proposed goals in the development of the country and Latin America.

Entry Profile

The Doctorate in Education is aimed at teaching professionals, with a fourth level degree duly registered in SENESCYT. In the case of applicants who do not have a master's degree in research or come from a field of knowledge other than education, they must take the propaedeutic phase.

Lines of research

Four lines that address the main challenges facing organizations in order to transform them creatively.

Educational Management
The line of research in “Educational Management” focuses its object of study on analyzing the management processes of educational units, technical and technological institutes and institutions of higher education in the national and international context, with the purpose of proposing explanations on the variables that impact them and developing proposals to strengthen their performance, successful permanence in their environment and achieve accreditation and quality indicators.

Education and Society
This line of research has as its object of study the analysis of educational processes, considering the philosophical, sociological, anthropological, and historical foundations that underpin educational public policies, ethical-political and strategic management, legislation and curriculum, the formation of the human person in general and teacher and researcher training in particular.

Educational Quality
It is a line of research that aims to build and produce knowledge on this topic from the point of view that encompasses social inclusion and commitment to human groups, which allows positioning horizons of social development, which attends to the role that Education plays in relation to the construction, shaping and transformation of social structures. The aim is to broaden the field of knowledge and generate processes of reflection on the management of education and the evaluation of educational processes on a national, regional and global scale, in order to contribute elements of interest in the analysis and solutions to the different social and educational problems.

Educational Innovation
This line of research aims to build and produce knowledge regarding the processes for innovation in the educational field. In this line of research, the priority of innovation in educational processes is emphasized in the search to provide solutions to the needs detected, rethinking social and technological change from new methods that integrate these elements in education.

Objectives

  • To train PhDs with a solid foundation and epistemological, research and teaching skills in the field of education, for the production and dissemination of knowledge, design, implementation and evaluation of relevant educational programs in the areas of management, training, evaluation and innovation.
  • Contribute from educational research with social practices, public policies of quality, inclusion and diversity; in accordance with international standards, present and future needs of the country.
  • To generate academic spaces of permanent discussion for reflection and intervention in educational processes, from different trends and theoretical, epistemological and practical approaches in the locality, the region and the world.
  • To provide doctoral students with quantitative and qualitative competencies to diagnose and solve problems in the educational field.

Admission Process

Fill out the nomination form for which the general documents and the proposal of the doctoral project must be available.

General Documents

  • Fourth level degree(s) (master's degree) and registration with SENESCYT.
  • Official certificate issued by the university where he/she obtained the master's degree specifying the grades of the subjects, the final grade and the trajectory (professional or research).
  • Two academic references in the following format.
  • Identity card or passport.
  • English language proficiency certificate (at least B1 level).
  • Certificate(s) of academic and/or professional work experience attesting to at least three years of experience.

 

  • Proposal of the doctoral project in the following format.
  • Perform a cognitive skills test.
  • Interview with the doctoral committee.
