The Universidad Espiritu Santo (UEES) inaugurated the second phase of the Sports Center, a space redesigned to promote healthy competition and athletic development. The event was attended by prominent authorities, including the mayor of Samborondón, Juan José Yúnez; the chancellor of UEES, Carlos Ortega Maldonado; the rector, Isidro Fierro; as well as vice rectors, deans, teachers and students.

The rector of UEES, Isidro Fierro, stressed that sport is a fundamental pillar in academic and personal training, promoting values such as discipline, teamwork and resilience. Juan José Yúnez, mayor of Samborondón and UEES alumni, congratulated the university for this initiative that will strengthen sports development in the canton. The ceremony included the blessing of the facilities and the traditional ribbon cutting, officially marking the opening of the courts.

“In an increasingly demanding world, having spaces like this motivates us to balance our studies with taking care of our body and mind,” said Valentín Barufaldi, student representative.

To celebrate this inauguration, UEES organized a sports day with exhibitions and tournaments in disciplines such as paddle tennis, soccer, basketball and volleyball. The day began with an exhibition of paddle tennis in which the rector Isidro Fierro participated, followed by a quadrangular tournament that reinforced the spirit of competition and camaraderie. With this new space, UEES continues to promote the welfare and sporting excellence of its student community.
