He is considered a world expert in the treatment of neurocysticercosis due to his long history of studies and publications on the subject. He contributed to the first studies aimed at treating this disease and was the creator of the diagnostic criteria for the disease.

JUAN CARLOS ZEVALLOS, MED.

His publications reshaped the concept of the role of endocardial cushions in the atrioventricular canal defect. As a fellow at Boston University he worked on the Framingham Heart Study. He was an EIS Officer at the US CDC and published the manual for writing scientific texts.

ILEANA HERRERA, PhD

Recognized globally and nationally as an expert in the ecology of invasive exotic species, she generated the national list of exotic species, identifying at least 40 invasive species that can generate negative impacts on the economy, biodiversity and/or human health in our country.

With more than 25 years of experience as a researcher, Peter Chedraui, MD, PhD, Past President of the Ecuadorian Society of Climacteric and Menopause, member of several boards of international scientific societies, such as the International Menopause Society (IMS); EMAS (European Menopause and Andropause Society), and in ISGE (International Society of Gynecological Endocrine Endocrinology). He is currently editor-in-chief of Gynecological Endocrinology (Scopus Q2 journal, official organ of the ISGE), associate editor of Climacteric (official journal of the IMS) and associate editor of Case Reports in Women's Health.

Dr. Leonel Vásquez biomedical engineering, with a particular focus on telemedicine solutions. He obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

One of its most outstanding projects is the «Design and technical validation of a telemedicine service for rural health care in Ecuador». This project has been instrumental in improving access to health services in rural communities..

Dentist with master's degree and doctorate in Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology obtained at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He focuses his research on the development of innovative technologies applied to maxillary surgery and bone regeneration procedures.

Among one of his most cited publications in 2020 ¨COVID-19 and Dentistry: A Review of Recommendations and Perspectives for Latin America¨ in conjunction with Latin American research dentists designing protocols for dentists during the pandemic.
