Holi, a festival of colors that marks the beginning of Spring

UEES - Espiritu Santo University > International Studies > Holi, a festival of colors that marks the beginning of Spring

The faculty of International Studies at UEES held a meaningful celebration of the Holi Festival, a Hindu tradition that marks the beginning of spring. This event not only highlighted the importance of sharing cultures, but also reflected the university's commitment to internationalization by providing a unique experience for its entire community. In collaboration with the IECC Chamber of Commerce, students and faculty members were able to enjoy a day filled with music, dance and food, while the cultural and spiritual background of this festival was explained to them.

“The Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colors, is traditionally celebrated in India and Nepal, but has gained popularity around the world. Its meaning goes beyond vibrant colors and collective joy; it represents the victory of good over evil, as well as the arrival of a new season,” noted Angelike Paez, dean of International Studies.

At this event, one of the most awaited moments was the launch of the colored powders, made with vegetable ingredients, which are an essential part of the Holi tradition. These colored powders not only represent fun and celebration, but are also a symbolic way of getting rid of the old to make way for the new, reflecting the renewal of the spring season.

These types of international experiences, offered to students and the university community, not only promote cultural integration, but also enrich the academic and personal formation of those who participate in them, fostering openness and global understanding.

Through activities such as these, UEES contributes to the formation of individuals with a broader vision and greater respect for the traditions and customs of different parts of the world. Internationalization thus becomes a fundamental tool to prepare students for an increasingly globalized world, where cultural diversity is a key value.
