Within the framework of the Sustainability Summit 2024, distinguished experts gathered at the «Sustainable Education» forum to discuss the steps to be taken to promote a sustainable culture in education.
The event was attended by Fernando Espinoza, Director of the Research Center of the Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES); Gilda Alcívar, rector of Ecotec; and Santiago Acosta, rector of UTPL.
Fernando Espinoza emphasized that the current focus is not only on conservation, but also on survival. In this context, he stressed the importance of educating all generations, from childhood to adulthood, on sustainability issues. At UEES, he noted, a comprehensive sustainable development subject is taught to all students in each career.
He also emphasized the institution's commitment to finance projects with sustainable components, with the aim of generating community awareness of a sustainable development program based on economic, social and environmental pillars.
The summit represented a fundamental space to reflect on the crucial role of education in the promotion of sustainable practices and the development of future generations committed to caring for the environment.
