More than one hundred musicians from around the world arrived in Ecuador for the International Orchestra Festival.

The International Orchestra Festival “Strings that bind, lives that heal.” opened its doors at the Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES), where more than one hundred musicians from ten countries participated in rehearsals, master classes and concerts celebrating the power of music as a language capable of uniting cultures and healing hearts.

The meeting, organized by the Faculty of Humanities of the UEES and the Academy of Music From Sun to Sun, The event brought together orchestras from Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, the United States and Cuba in an agenda that ran from November 20 to 23. Among the main activities were the recitals of soloists who opened their doors to the public every night.

The festival culminated with the expected Closing Gala, where young talents performed classical and Latin American works with international guests. Among them was the Mexican pianist Mateo Castañeda, considered one of the most promising virtuosos in Latin America.

 

At the same time, the Rubén Terteryan In Memoriam“ International Competition”, which paid tribute to the Armenian master and brought together participants from the United States, Spain, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador, in categories ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. The main winners were: Giordano Salvatore, Mateo Pelegrín and Marcos Villafruela.

From Peru, Rafael Reyes, director of the RR Academy in Lima, highlights the educational impact of the festival: “Here the music reminds us that peoples unite when their young people play to the same rhythm. I believe that the transforming power of music is such that it is evident in the joy and smiles of all the children who come from different parts of Latin America and Ecuador..

Yesenia Rodríguez, Academy Director From Sun to Sun, underlines the magnitude of the event: “It is the only orchestra festival that has brought 10 nations together to do something magical and wonderful in this country that needs it so badly. This festival demonstrates the talent that flourishes when we share knowledge.”.
