Comité de Ética de investigación de Seres Humanos

The Human Research Ethics Committee of Espiritu Santo University, hereinafter referred to as the CEISH - UEES, is a body responsible for evaluating the ethics of human research to safeguard the rights and welfare of subjects in any health research activity, regardless of the source of funding.

CEISH - UEES was approved by the Ministry of Public Health with the Unified Code. DNIVS-CEISH-09-UEES-44 January 20, 2025.

In addition, CEISH UEES is registered with the U.S. Office for Human Research Protections under number IRB00014797. Registration that makes it eligible to receive observational and interventional research protocols with the use of products subject to FDA surveillance.

Target

The objective of the CEISH - UEES is to protect the dignity, rights, welfare and safety of human participants in health studies.

Functions

Evaluate the ethical, methodological and legal aspects of health research protocols involving human subjects.
Evaluate the suitability of the facilities, as well as the feasibility of the health research project.
Evaluate modifications to documents related to previously approved research and any relevant information submitted by the PI.
Follow up on the health research they approve, especially observational studies involving biological samples, vulnerable groups or confidential data, from their initiation until receipt of the final report.
Report to the Health Intelligence Directorate events that affect any stage of the investigation and follow up on them.
To revoke the approval of the research when the methodological, legal and ethical procedures established/approved for its execution are not complied with. In this case, the CEISH should communicate to the responsible investigators and the DIS the reasons for the revocation.
