UEES - Espiritu Santo University > News > UEES Chancellor receives Scientific Merit award

During the solemn commemorative session of the 489th anniversary of the foundation of Guayaquil, the Municipality of Guayaquil awarded the Scientific Merit Award to Dr. Carlos Ortega Maldonado, Chancellor of the Universidad Espiritu Santo.

«This distinction recognizes the efforts of all my collaborators and the work we do in different fields: scientific, social and academic. In Guayaquil, we must all unite, for Guayaquil, for Guayas and for Ecuador, so that each one contributes from his square meter. Everything we contribute adds up to build a great city, a great nation, a great country for our people to progress», said the Chancellor.

«I congratulate the city of Guayaquil on its 498th anniversary and I wish Guayaquilians success so that we change our mentality and not only wait for what Guayaquil does for us, but that each one of us contributes to make Guayaquil a more prosperous city,» he said.

The civic awards were presented to institutions and citizens who, through their actions, contribute to the welfare of society in the fields of science and culture. The chancellor was recognized for being a true promoter of higher education in Ecuador, as founder of UEES, whose work in the research center has generated significant advances that have exalted the name of the country, positioning it as a benchmark in educational and scientific leadership.
