The first Eureka Meeting of 2025 featured the outstanding journalist, presenter and interviewer of the international channel NTN24, Andrea Bernal, who is also an alumni of the Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES). Her lecture, entitled «The value of truth and doubt», captivated students with reflections on her professional career and the impact of critical thinking in journalism and society.
During his presentation, Bernal shared experiences from his career, highlighting the importance of questioning and analyzing information. «We have started to stop doubting, and it is doubt that makes us think,» he said, urging students to develop a critical and curious attitude about the world around them.
He also emphasized the need to step out of the comfort zone, be resilient and keep an open mind. «Prejudices make us believe we own the truth and take away opportunities,» he said, encouraging attendees to challenge their own convictions and explore new perspectives.
The event was highly participative, with motivated students sharing their views and discussing the importance of analytical thinking in today's society. In conclusion, Bernal synthesized his advice into six fundamental principles: do what makes us happy, go the extra mile, cultivate skills, be more of a leader and less of a figurehead, enjoy the present and go back to doubting.
The Eureka Meetings are organized by the Entrepreneurship Center of UEES and seek to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in students. This inaugural talk kicked off a series of conferences that will be held throughout the year, with the aim of inspiring, challenging and motivating the university's future professionals.
