The objective of the Specialty is to train medical professionals specialized in Endocrinology with the capacity to provide health services to patients with endocrine pathologies with technical, scientific, social and human quality, enabling them to provide comprehensive medical care to patients..

Aimed at

Applicants to the specialization in Endocrinology must be professionals in Medicine with a third level degree registered in the National System of Higher Education Information (SNIESE) and before the National Health Authority through the Agency for Quality Assurance of Health Services and Prepaid Medicine -ACESS- or whoever takes its place. In the event that the third level degree is obtained abroad, the student must present it to the IES duly apostilled or legalized by consular means in order to enroll in the program.

Title to be Granted

Once the academic, assistance and administrative requirements have been approved, and the degree work has been defended. The degree of Specialist in Endocrinology.

The teachers of this program are professionals with fourth level degrees and a wide domain and experience in the area to be taught.

The postgraduate course of study is face-to-face and is dedicated exclusively to the Program.

At the end of his training as a specialist in Endocrinology

 

  • The graduate of the Endocrinology program will will be able to attend and solve the different pathologies related to the area of study, including intellectual, resolutive, critical and analytical skills that are fundamental for the development of a thorough clinical history and physical examination that will guide him/her to request the necessary laboratory and imaging tests for an accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment, taking advantage of the available resources.
  • Perform a correct treatment scheme of endocrine pathologies, follow up and monitor the therapeutic response, know the adverse effects of hormone excess or deficiency including when these are produced iatrogenically. Interpret dynamic hormonal, immunology and genetic laboratory tests, as well as imaging studies, tomography, gammagraphy, positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), bone densitometry and magnetic resonance of endocrine organs, among others.
  • Work in teams with other health professionals in activities that stimulate research at the clinical and/or basic level, applying knowledge of epidemiology, pathophysiology, molecular biology and evidence-based medicine to contribute to the proper management of diseases of endocrine and/or metabolic origin and publish scientific research findings related to this field of knowledge.
  • He will encourage and direct activities that favor the development of his capacity to take action assuming foreseeable risks, within the regulatory and legal framework, to achieve programmed objectives, stimulate reading and critical spirit that will keep him updated.
  • It will develop promotion and prevention workshops at the community level, to disseminate and enrich cultures and knowledge directed to patients and their environment in the management of endocrine diseases in order to reduce the incidence of diseases such as diabetes, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, osteoporosis, thyroid problems, growth disorders, among others.
  • He/she will have a solid ethical and moral background, critical and self-critical and a clear motivation to share his/her knowledge and will contribute to personal growth, to the work team and for the benefit of patients.
  • It will support the right to health, humane and fair treatment of patients, family members, colleagues and the health care team.
  • Lead by example and orient their professional practice towards clinical care within the framework of the dialogue of knowledge, interculturalism and gender approach of patients and their environment through a professional and competent work model.

Requirements to participate in the contest

The applicant must upload all the supporting and merit documentation scanned in PDF format.

All documents must be notarized copies.

Documents that support the suitability of the applicants (in case of not uploading the complete documentation, the applicant will not be allowed to continue with the competition process).

  • Color copy of updated Identity Card.
  • Copy of identity card or passport (for foreigners).
  • 1 recent color photograph 
  • Copy of third level degree.
  • Be a professional in the field of specific health knowledge with a third level degree registered in the National System of Higher Education Information, SNIESE / SENESCYT and to the health authority ACESS, or whoever takes its place.
  • Have passed the professional qualification examination of the CACES, if applicable.
  • Certificate of proficiency level of at least A1 in a language other than the mother tongue.
  • Certificate of Rural Medicine.
  • Certificate of final grade (the university reserves the right to calculate the IMG).

Documents for merit qualification, Notarized (30 points)

  • Certificates of medical training courses endorsed by an institution of higher education, with a minimum duration of 40 hours and with evaluation,  Attach the image of the call for the course. (To be scored with 0.5 each, with a maximum of 2 points) 
  • Publications and/or letters of acceptance for publication in indexed journals or books; as principal author or co-author. LATINDEX, MIAR, SCOPUD, SCIELO, MEDLINE, PUBMED, LILACS. (To be scored with 0.5 each, with a maximum of 4 points).
  • Postgraduate studies: doctorate (PhD. or equivalent), specialization and/or master's degree in the area of health registered in the SNIESE/SENESCYT. 2 points will be recognized for PHD, 2 points for Specializations and 1 for Master's Degree.
  • Teaching assistantships, practical or theoretical tutorships in higher education institutions, duly certified by the competent authority, obtained through merit and competitive examinations., during their academic training. Scoring will be 0.5 each period of assistantship, maximum 2 points.
  • Awards for academic merit and/or research, granted by an institution of higher education or one of the country's academic teaching units, during their training. third-level academic. 0.5 will be recognized for each one, maximum of 2 points.
  •  
  • Full and half scholarships academic by national or foreign institutions of higher education or any other entity.. A score of 1 point will be given for each scholarship, maximum 2 points.
  • Duly documented clinical-surgical assistance activity, including work history (Consolidated from the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security or other qualifying documents). In third and second level hospitals. 1 point for each continuous calendar year of activities, up to a maximum of 2 points.
  • Participation in research projects duly endorsed by an institution of higher education, a research institution and/or certificates of lecturer or speaker in endorsed academic meetings. Attach the image of the congress or call for proposals. A score of 1 point will be given for each participation or certificate, up to a maximum of 2 points.
  • Affirmative action certification, according to the technical standard of the regulatory entity in force, issued by the corresponding governmental entity. It will be scored with 0.25 points.

In addition to all the provisions of Resolution RPC-SE-08-No.023-2022, codified, which contains the Rules for the Conduct of Merit and Opposition Competitions to access the Medical Specialty Programs.

Requirements for publications

  • Recognized journals (LATINDEX, MIAR, SCOPUD, SCIELO, MEDLINE, PUBMED, LILACS). Maximum number of participants (5)
  • Publications related to the specialty. In case of books or chapters in collective works, send notarized copy of the book cover (Q1, Q2; Q3; Q4 IMPACT FACTOR) (CLINICAL CASE VALUE WITH A MAXIMUM OF 5 ART. SCORE AND THE LITERATURE REVIEW MUST BE OF HIGH IMPACT.

On the competitive examinations (70 points)

The competitive examination will be conducted through the CTO platform, according to the established schedule.

Admission requirements

  • Winner of a merit-based competitive examination.
  • Submit the documents required by the University and UAD.
  • Present certification of affiliation with the Social Security Institute. 
  • To pay the registration fee and the first tuition fee before the beginning of the program.

The assignment of the Base Hospital will be made according to the score obtained by the winners; that is, the applicant who obtains the highest score will decide in which hospital he/she wishes to perform his/her medical specialty, and so on with the other winners.

    third grade level registered in the National Education Information System (Sistema Nacional de Información de Educación).
    SENESCYT and before the health authority ACESS, or whoever makes
    their times.
  • Have passed the CACES professional qualification exam, in the case that the following are required
    corresponds.
  • Certificate of proficiency level of at least A1 in a language other than the mother tongue.
  • Certificate of Rural Medicine.
  • Certificate of final grade.
  • Graduation Merit Indicator Certificate, the university reserves the right to

  • Awards for academic merit and/or research, granted by an institution of higher education or one of the country's academic teaching units.
  • Completed full or half academic scholarships awarded by domestic or foreign institutions of higher education or other entity.
  • Duly documented clinical-surgical assistance activity, including work history (mechanized from the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security or other enabling documents).
  • Participation in research projects duly endorsed by an institution of higher education, a research institution.
  • Certificates of lecturer or speaker at endorsed academic meetings.
  • Affirmative action certification, according to the technical standard of the regulatory entity in force.
