Target

El objetivo de la Especialidad es formar profesionales médicos especialistas en Cirugía Plástica, Reconstructiva y Estética con capacidad para la prestación de servicios de salud mediante procedimientos de cirugía plástica fundamentados en la calidad técnica, científica, social y humana, que les permiten brindar una atención médica integral a los pacientes.

Aimed at

Los aspirantes a la especialización en Cirugía Plástica, Reconstructiva y Estética deberán ser profesionales en Medicina con título de tercer nivel de grado registrado en el Sistema Nacional de Información de Educación Superior (SNIESE) y ante la Autoridad Sanitaria Nacional a través de Agencia de Aseguramiento de la Calidad de los Servicios de Salud y Medicina Prepagada -ACESS- o a quien haga sus veces. En el caso de que el título de tercer nivel de grado sea obtenido en el exterior, el estudiante para inscribirse en el programa deberá presentarlo a la IES debidamente apostillado o legalizado por vía consular.

Student profile upon graduation

Al concluir su formación como especialista en:

 

  • Un egresado del programa de Cirugía Plástica, Reconstructiva y Estética tendrá los conocimientos médicos profundos sobre las distintas técnicas quirúrgicas y procedimientos de cirugía plástica, desarrollará habilidades en suturas, incisiones, manejo de tejidos blandos, y procedimientos delicados y precisos, de manera qué, deberán ser capaces de evaluar a los pacientes, diagnosticar condiciones y planificar tratamientos efectivos mediante la interpretación de las diferentes pruebas y exámenes de laboratorio, asimismo, tendrá la capacidad de explicar procedimientos complejos de una manera fácil de entender y de manejar las preocupaciones y expectativas de los pacientes.
  • Aplicará los protocolos de atención al paciente antes, durante y después de la cirugía, incluyendo el manejo del dolor, prevención de infecciones y cuidado posoeratorio, desarrollará investigaciones en el campo de la cirugía plástica, como estudios clínicos, investigación básica y traslacional, y estudios de resultados, dentro de su ejercicio profesional, tomará decisiones clínicas basadas en la evidencia, incluyendo la evaluación de la literatura médica, aplicación de directrices de práctica clínica y la consideración de los valores y preferencias del paciente.
  • Contribuirá al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida, el medio ambiente, el desarrollo productivo, y la preservación, difusión y enriquecimiento de las culturas y saberes del Ecuador mediante intervenciones quirúrgicas, donde los pacientes experimentarán el aumento de la autoestima, la mejora de la funcionalidad física y la reducción del dolor contribuirán al desarrollo económico y productivo del Ecuador al proporcionar servicios de alta calidad que atraen a pacientes de otras áreas o países, considerando que la formación y educación en cirugía plástica, por lo tanto, creará empleos y oportunidades de desarrollo profesional.
  • Respetará y valorará las tradiciones y creencias culturales de sus pacientes, comprenderá y respetará las diferentes actitudes hacia la cirugía y el cuidado de la salud.
  • Se enfocará en la ética y los derechos humanos, conocerá la importancia del conocimiento informado, y la necesidad de tomar decisiones clínicas que estén en el mejor interés de los pacientes.

Brindará atención de alta calidad a todos los pacientes, independientemente de su raza, género, orientación sexual, origen étnico, religión, edad, estado socioeconómico, o cualquier otra característica, así pues, trabajará eficazmente con pacientes de diferentes culturas y orígenes, se comunicará efectivamente con pacientes que hablan diferentes idiomas y respetará las diferentes actitudes y creencias culturales sobre la salud y la cirugía.

The following positions are available for this postgraduate program, as requested by the hospitals:

The assignment of the Base Hospital will be made according to the score obtained by the winners; that is, the applicant who obtains the highest score will decide in which hospital he/she wishes to perform his/her medical specialty, and so on with the other winners.

Requirements

Requirements to participate in the contest

  • The applicant may apply for only one clinical or surgical specialty.
  • Those physicians who are currently pursuing a medical specialty program at our institution will not be able to apply to this process.
  • The applicant must upload all the supporting and merit documentation scanned in PDF format.
  • All documents must be notarized copies.

Documents that support the suitability of the applicants (in case of not uploading the complete documentation, the applicant will not be allowed to continue with the competition process).

  • Color copy of updated Identity Card.
  • Copy of identity card or passport (for foreigners).
  • 1 recent color photograph 
  • Copy of third level degree.
  • Be a professional in the field of specific health knowledge with a third level degree registered in the National System of Higher Education Information, SNIESE / SENESCYT and to the health authority ACESS, or whoever takes its place.
  • Have passed the professional qualification examination of the CACES, if applicable.
  • Certificate of proficiency level of at least A1 in a language other than the mother tongue.
  • Certificate of Rural Medicine.
  • Certificate of final grade (the university reserves the right to calculate the IMG).

Documents for merit qualification, Notarized (30 points)

  • Certificates of medical training courses endorsed by an institution of higher education, with a minimum duration of 40 hours and with evaluation,  Attach the image of the call for the course. (To be scored with 0.5 each, with a maximum of 2 points) 
  • Publications and/or letters of acceptance for publication in indexed journals or books; as principal author or co-author. LATINDEX, MIAR, SCOPUD, SCIELO, MEDLINE, PUBMED, LILACS. (To be scored with 0.5 each, with a maximum of 4 points).
  • Postgraduate studies: doctorate (PhD. or equivalent), specialization and/or master's degree in the area of health registered in the SNIESE/SENESCYT. 2 points will be recognized for PHD, 2 points for Specializations and 1 for Master's Degree.
  • Teaching assistantships, practical or theoretical tutorships in higher education institutions, duly certified by the competent authority, obtained through merit and competitive examinations., during their academic training. Scoring will be 0.5 each period of assistantship, maximum 2 points.
  • Awards for academic merit and/or research, granted by an institution of higher education or one of the country's academic teaching units, during their training. third-level academic. 0.5 will be recognized for each one, maximum of 2 points.
  •  
  • Full and half scholarships academic by national or foreign institutions of higher education or any other entity.. A score of 1 point will be given for each scholarship, maximum 2 points.
  • Duly documented clinical-surgical assistance activity, including work history (Consolidated from the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security or other qualifying documents). In third and second level hospitals. 1 point for each continuous calendar year of activities, up to a maximum of 2 points.
  • Participation in research projects duly endorsed by an institution of higher education, a research institution and/or certificates of lecturer or speaker in endorsed academic meetings. Attach the image of the congress or call for proposals. A score of 1 point will be given for each participation or certificate, up to a maximum of 2 points.
  • Affirmative action certification, according to the technical standard of the regulatory entity in force, issued by the corresponding governmental entity. It will be scored with 0.25 points.

In addition to all the provisions of Resolution RPC-SE-08-No.023-2022, codified, which contains the Rules for the Conduct of Merit and Opposition Competitions to access the Medical Specialty Programs.

Requirements for publications

  • Recognized journals (LATINDEX, MIAR, SCOPUD, SCIELO, MEDLINE, PUBMED, LILACS). Maximum number of participants (5)
  • Publications related to the specialty. In case of books or chapters in collective works, send notarized copy of the book cover (Q1, Q2; Q3; Q4 IMPACT FACTOR) (CLINICAL CASE VALUE WITH A MAXIMUM OF 5 ART. SCORE AND THE LITERATURE REVIEW MUST BE OF HIGH IMPACT.

On the competitive examinations (70 points)

The competitive examination will be conducted through the CTO platform, according to the established schedule.

Admission requirements

  • Winner of a merit-based competitive examination.
  • Submit the documents required by the University and UAD.
  • Present certification of affiliation with the Social Security Institute. 
  • To pay the registration fee and the first tuition fee before the beginning of the program.
