Atahualpa, a community located in the province of Santa Elena, was selected as an optimal setting for the epidemiological study of diseases such as atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular events, cognitive impairment and sleep disorders.
This project is a testament to the importance of long-term studies and how the knowledge gained establishes a solid foundation for future research and health policies in rural areas.
