During the event, the main challenges and advances in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism in the country were discussed.<\/p>\n<p>The panel of experts consisted of <strong>Roberto Romero von Buchwald, Superintendent of Banks<\/strong>; Alan Sierra, former director of the Financial and Economic Analysis Unit (UAFE) and professor at UEES; Diana Guerrero, specialist in money laundering regulations; <strong>Marco Antonio Rodr\u00edguez, Asobanca's Executive President<\/strong>; and Andr\u00e9s Jim\u00e9nez, consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism (AML\/FT).<\/p>\n<p>Alberto Dahik, Director of Graduate Studies at UEES, emphasized at the opening of the event the importance of these spaces for debate: \u201cThe key is to take advantage of a high-level forum like this one to identify the mechanisms that allow the execution of what is established in the law. In addition, it is the responsibility of the private sector, which provides these contributions, to exert the necessary pressure so that the resources are allocated correctly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Marco Rodr\u00edguez, executive president of Asobanca, highlighted the importance of regulatory control: \u201cIn this meeting we discussed the accompaniment, supervision and control that the Superintendency of Banks provides through its technical knowledge and timely support to ensure that controls are more effective every day\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Roberto Romero von Buchwald, Superintendent of Banks, stressed the importance of academia in the fight against money laundering: \u201cThese forums are essential to bring academia closer to the implementation of strategies to combat money laundering.
